Clothes rack – Crooked valet stand
The clothes rack consists of a continuous steel band and serves as a practical wardrobe. Garments can be draped over one of the three curved arches, similar to hanging them over the back of a chair. Such pieces of furniture were formerly known as "valet stands" in the bedroom.

Origin
More than 20 years ago, Johanna Schuberth and Michael Bacherl designed this clothes rack as part of a student competition at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. The first prototype – made of bent flat steel in the shape of an endless loop – was painstakingly handcrafted during a long night. The design was inspired by chair backs hung with clothes.
Even as Schuberth & Schuberth, the clothes rack remained a faithful companion and never let us go. Due to numerous requests from friends and customers, we finally commissioned a small series. The steel bands are bent by hand, powder-coated, and numbered by the metalworking shop Transformer-Metallbau in Vienna-Liesing – no two are alike.
